Assistant System Operations Control Centre (SOCC) Manager - Calgary, AB (YYC)

As we continue to expand, we are seeking an Assistant System Operations Control Centre (SOCC) Manager to join our dynamic team based out of Calgary, Alberta. Reporting directly to the System Operations Control Centre (SOCC) Manager and indirectly to the Directors of Charters and Scheduled Services, the Assistant System Operations Control Centre Manager is responsible for leading a team that manages the day-to-day operations of Central Mountain Air’s flights. This critical role ensures the safe, on-time, and efficient operation of our aircraft, while adhering to Transport Canada Regulations and company policies.

Job Description

Leadership and Team Supervision:

  • Lead, coach, and mentor all System Operations Control Centre staff.

  • Foster collaborative and high-performance within our team.

  • Assist in the management of SOCC staffing, schedules, performance, and provide input, strategy, and guidance on daily operation plans.

  • Uphold the highest standards of safety, service and regulatory compliance, ensuring all practices meet industry standards, internal safety protocols and company policies.

  • Champion, comply with and adhere to all company polices and procedures.

  • Actively promote safety and quality within the organization and department by encouraging employee participation in SMS and ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders.

  • Comply with all SMS and safety policies, processes and standards..

Operational Oversight

  • Assist in the development and implementation department policies, goals, objectives, and procedures.

  • Monitor and help manage real-time flight operations, ensuring compliance with flight plans, safety regulations, and company standards.

  • Facilitate operational communication and assist in the research and evaluation of delays, cancellations, or other operational issues.

  • Make operational decisions related to delays, diversions, and other critical situations to ensure the safety and efficiency of flights.

Planning

  • Collaborate with flight crews, maintenance teams, dispatch, and relevant stakeholders to ensure all flight details are accurate and up to date.

Communication and Coordination

  • Maintain effective communication channels with flight crews, air traffic control, and various departments within the company to ensure smooth operations.

  • Address and resolve operational issues and challenges in a timely manner.

Emergency Response

  • Coordinate and manage responses to operational emergencies, working closely with relevant authorities and teams to ensure the safety and well-being of passengers and crew.

  • Manage and provide operational support during irregular operations (IROPs).

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Other duties or projects assigned by the SOCC Manager (or delegate).

Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years leadership experience.

  • 4 years previous experience as licensed dispatcher in the aviation industry considered an asset.

  • In-depth knowledge of flight operations, dispatch procedures, and regulatory compliance.

  • Experience working in Amelia Res, Merlot considered an asset.

  • Able to apply applicable regulations (i.e., Canadian Aviation Regulations) and Standards (i.e., Commercial Air Service Standards).

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate effective collaboration.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to make critical decisions with limited information.

  • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.

  • Ability to work irregular hours and be on-call to manage operational issues.
