CMA Adds Another Dash 8-300 to Fleet.

CMA announces addition of a Dash 8-300 aircraft to its fleet to support the growing business and connectivity in Western Canada.

Central Mountain Air (CMA) has added another Dash 8-300 to its fleet, this is the first of four additional Dash 8-300 aircraft that will be added to the CMA fleet in the coming months. This addition will help grow the business, provide service to clients, and increase connectivity for communities across Western Canada.

The Dash 8-300 has a carrying capacity of up to 50 passengers and a cruising speed of 532km/h. This aircraft is recognized as a leader in its class for short field performance and is ideal for flying not only to cities but also remote locations, it is equipped with spacious 2x2 seating and comfortable leather seats. Our Dash 8-300 is currently being upgraded to include ADS-B and LPV Technology.

ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast) allows equipped aircraft and ground vehicles to broadcast their identification, position, altitude, and velocity to other aircraft. This is a revolutionary means of communication between our aircraft and other airspace consumers. This system utilizes WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System) capable GPS receivers that vastly improve the accuracy, integrity, and availability of the aircraft position by incorporating both global and geostationary satellite information. This enables aircraft to rely on the global positioning system throughout all phases of flight including precision approaches.  leading to an overall higher level of safety in aviation. Although not yet mandated in Canada, this upgrade allows CMA to operate our aircraft into the USA (as the opportunities arise) and further represents CMA’s commitment to industry leadership in all aspects of Aviation Safety.

LPV (Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance) is a system utilizing WAAS satellite input to give approach minimums that are typically lower than current LNAV/VNAV approaches alone. LPV and LP approaches lead to an enhanced level of safety by reduced pilot workload compared to non-precision approaches, nearly eliminating the need for ground-based navigational equipment, potential reducing existing weather minimums, and allowing better access to airports during poor conditions.

The new Dash 8-300 will also be available for charter services as required to best serve our clients. CMA’s fleet is now comprised of 5 Dash-8 -300, 6 Dash-8 -100, 3 Dornier 328, and 14 Beech 1900D with the ability to expand its fleet types to meet your needs. In addition, CMA’s affiliate partners have a fleet comprising of 1 King Air 350i (Medevac Configuration), 2 King Air 350s (1 Corporate and 1 Medevac Configuration), 2 Dash8 -400s and 1 CRJ 100/200 further expanding CMA’s capabilities and offerings.
