CMA announces temporary service reductions on specific routes

(Smithers, BC May 30th, 2022)

Central Mountain Air (CMA) announces temporary service reductions on specific routes due to ongoing pilot shortages in the Aviation industry.

CMA has made the decision to reduce its service on some scheduled routes effective immediately. “Taking into consideration various factors such as vendor staffing levels, covid related absences, as well as the current acute labour shortage in the aviation industry, particularly pilots – we have decided to strategically reduce certain scheduled routes and frequencies – to ensure we continue to provide the high standards of customer service, reliability and operations for our passengers.

Across the industry, both domestic and international, airlines are experiencing a strain on pilot capacity as demand for air travel returns and all airlines are hiring but the pandemic exacerbated a labour shortage, particularly pilots, by slowing down training and hiring and creating a wave of early retirements in the aviation industry.

This is a planned temporary reduction as we and our vendors continue to hire and train new staff and look forward to a resumption of flights to all our communities served. Our updated flight schedule is available at: flycma.com/schedule

Our reservations and customer care team are currently working with the impacted passengers to ensure minimal disruptions to their travel plans ” said Doug McCrea, President.
